LOST SOUL Day 2

Really buzzed about writing today after watching the marvellous SHERLOCK last night...how does Mr Moffat do it???

Just had a quick read of yesterday's pages and to be honest they're not bad. One minor tweak to help the audience connect with the protagonist, as he was looking too troubled too early... that comes later.

The threat of Swanage still looms to add to the self imposed pressure of another 5 pages planned for today. If I can do more I will - if the writing is flowing really well what's the point in stopping when I complete my target number of pages? If it goes well I'll stay at home and write until my fingers drop off, if it doesn't I might as well go and get some fresh air and clear my head.

I'm going in.

Less than five minutes in and my four-year-old son comes in crying because Mummy has popped his balloon.

'Where you annoying your baby brother with it, while he was having his morning nap?'

'Yes...'

Nuff said.

OK, not going so well. First page of the day taking an age as I quickly research the difference between an advertising and design agency...while chatting to Bang2Write on Facebook.

Stop procrastinating Carver!!!!!

My dear lady wife has just brought me a cup of tea and some chocolate, gave me the answer I was looking for regarding my research, while politely reminding me we are leaving for Swanage in about an hour...guess I'm going then.

That was a hard page to write, so I'm off to Swanage for the next few hours. Lets hope the fresh air will do its job.

I'm back.

Now I feel guilty because I spent the afternoon out instead of writing. Guilt quickly leads to anger, anger leads to hate...of myself... for not writing more pages!!! That's writing for you, one minute your up and the next your down.

Best get on.

Finally getting to grips with this scene. It's the first big talky scene after five pages of mostly visuals and I don't want it too long, otherwise it'll spoil the pace. Trying to keep it to two pages. Think I've cracked it.

4 pages done today, not bad considering I spent most of it swanning around Swanage.

Will probably want to rewrite my last scene tomorrow morning, I think it needs more conflict...maybe/maybe not? We'll see.

See you tomorrow.
