Most scriptwriters I've know love their beer. Is it alcoholism or is it something about the business that drives a scriptwriter to drink? Or is it a little of both?While I was at Bournemouth University doing a BA (Hons) degree in Scriptwriting For Film and Television it was the norm to discuss your work, or other's work, over a few beers in the student union bar. Even the lecturers were partial to a few pints.
So what is your drink of choice?

Mine's a Guinness.
If you've got the Die Another Day DVD there's an interview with Neal Purvis and Robert Wade discussing how they work on ideas for a script. They initially work apart and find themselves drinking far too much coffee. To counteract the effects of too many Lattes, they meet up afterwards for a few beers.
Science at work. The body needs the caffeine/alcohol chemical balance.
(I'll have a Guinness with you Dom. Followed by a few JD's and coke.)

Dan - I hate coffee it makes me too jittery. I prefer the Commander Vimes chemical imbalance in the Terry Pratchett novels; 'always one drink short of sober.'
If you can find a pub that keeps it properly, a Real Ale. In a jug. With pork scratchings, and by pork scratchings I mean proper big tooth-destroying ones with hair on them.
As for the beer itself, London Pride, or Adnams usually. Or a Summer Lightning if the weather's nice.

I was born in Canada so love my lager, but down here in the USA I have converted to Newcastle Brown or Bass (imports from over your way)
