14 Days And Counting

It has begun. 14 days to write a script, or in my case to rewrite a script. OK, I'll be honest it's actually 12 days as I've only started this morning.

The quickest I've ever written a feature script was in three months. That was Sins of The Father for my final year project at university. We had no other choice than to finish it in those three months but at least we had six months to prepare for it before we started.

The reason I chose to do a rewrite instead of starting a new feature script is that Mr. Valentine has so far taken something nearing four years to complete. Not that I've been writing it for four years, it's just that most of that time it has been sat gathering dust. I've decided to lose one character and a couple of subplots to make the film tighter and give it a better, more logical ending.

I am very interested in the write a feature in fourteen days idea and I think I'll even give it a go again sometime soon. I do have a feature idea ready to go so this is just the motivation I need to get it done. The only reason I haven't before is that I was reluctant to spend another year or so writing one and not doing much work on other projects. I think I'll give myself the two weeks before my wedding to complete it that way I have a self-imposed time limit and two weeks off afterwards to clear my head before I read it.

I had better crack on with this one now though, so I'll see you all soon.

I have just discovered my plot is a sieve.

Bugger!

Day 47. On about page 15. This is the easy part, the piecing together of sections of the old script. The hard part comes when I have to join them to the new bits and make them fit.

It may have been a slow start but I'm catching up.

Hello Dom. I've stopped by to encourage you at your request, since clearly I am a lady of leisure now and have nothing to do with my time... what form of encouragement do u prefer? carrot on a stick? calm, soothing words? Or beating with a stick? Let me know.... ; )

Just poke me with a stick once in a while to make sure I'm still awake and some soothing words of encouragement would also be of use.

Isn't maternity leave just one big holiday ;-)

Day 189. My fingers are now bloody stumps. After writing that I had done 15 pages yesterday I decided to do 5 more. I'm now on 20.

However, I have the feeling I won't be doing to many today as I've decided to go down to the beach.

Only six pages done yeasterday as I spent most of the day writing my wedding speech. At least I resisted the temptation to go down the beach though.

How about a progress bar then?

As I'm only doing a rewrite I feel that it would be misleading to put a progress bar on here. I'm up to page 50 now. Most of it is restructuring. Once that is done then the real work of editing starts.

I'm always having fun, Sal. Just I'm not allowed most of the time ;-)

A wedding speech? U don't need one of them. Just make it up as you go along like my dad did, confusing the groom's name with an ex!!!

I have had most of it in my head for several months. It's a piece of comedy genius.
